This years theme is
"Have 2 Ways Out". It is important for your
family to have an escape plan in case a fire were to
occur and to practice that plan regularly. There
should always be two ways out no matter where you are
in the house and a safe meeting place outside of the

Portable Generator Safety
Many people have
portable generators to use when the power goes out in
their home. According to the USFA portable
generators were associated with 228 carbon monoxide
poisoning deaths in the U.S. between 1990 and 2003.
Generators are a valuable tool when the power is out but
have many hazards and need to be used correctly.
Click the link below for information on avoiding hazards
with portable generators.
Portable Generator Hazards Fact Sheet

Each year fire burns millions of acres of woodland
across the United States. More houses are being
built in woodland areas causing more residents to face
the real danger of wildfires. The potential for
devastating wildfires exists in every state across the
United States and actions like properly disposing of
lit cigarettes and not leaving campfires unattended
can decrease the risk for these kinds of fires.
There are several steps you can take to make your home
less susceptible to becoming part of a wildfire.
