About Us
The Hebron Fire Protection District (HFPD) is a dynamic public safety agency providing Fire and Emergency Medical Services to 42 square miles of Boone County, Kentucky. The district is a diverse mix of rural, residential, commercial, and industrial properties. The district protects a residential population of approximately 23,000 people, 14 miles of Interstate 275, 13 miles of the Ohio River, and the facilities of several Fortune 500 companies.
HFPD staffs two fire stations 24/7/365. With a minimum of ten personnel per day, HFPD staffs two engine companies and two Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances, having one engine and one ambulance at each station. Our personnel are a mix of both Firefighter/EMTs and Firefighter/Paramedics, and work a "24/48" shift. This means that our firefighters work for 24 hours at a time, and then are off duty for 48 hours. The department has three shifts to maintain this staffing model, plus an additional half-shift to provide coverage for crews on their "Kelly Day."
Beyond the scope of Fire and Emergency Medical Services, HFPD is heavily involved in several specialty disciplines that require additional training for our firefighters, as well as additional apparatus to respond to such events. These specialty disciplines include swiftwater rescue, high-angle rope rescue, low-angle rope rescue, hazardous materials mitigation, and SWAT paramedicine.
As a Chapter 75 Fire Protection District, the Hebron Fire Protection District is governed by a Board of Trustees. The District Board is composed of seven members in total. Three board members are appointed by the Boone County Judge Executive. Two board members are property owners within Hebron Fire Protection District, and are elected by members of the public. Lastly, two board members are members of the HFPD, and are elected by their fellow firefighters. All elected members serve a term of three years.
Message from the Chief
Adam N. Peddicord, MS, NRP
Fire Chief
Hebron Fire Protection District

Hello, and welcome to the Hebron Fire Protection District’s website. On behalf of our employees, the District Board and our taxpayers, we hope that you find our website easy to navigate and informative.

My name is Adam Peddicord, and I am the 16th Fire Chief of the Hebron Fire Protection District. With a rich history dating back to 1937, I am fortunate to follow behind great Chief’s who have paved the way to the bright future that Hebron is experiencing, and I hope to continue the growth and progressive trajectory.

With fifty-two (52) career staff providing fire and emergency services on a 24/7, 365 basis, our challenges and support mechanisms are unique. We provide coverage for 42 square miles, 14 miles of Interstate 275, and approximately 13 miles of riverfront on the Ohio River. Our personnel are highly trained and hold many technician specialty certifications in the following disciplines: Hazardous Materials, Rope, Swift Water, Collapse, Confined Space, SWAT-Tactical Paramedic, and Drone Pilot.

Fire department operations and our specialty teams are divided between two geographically placed stations, each staffed with a minimum of an ALS (Paramedic) ambulance and Fire Engine. Bordering the State of Indiana to our North and West, the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport to our East, and the Burlington Fire Protection to our south, we are fortunate to have collaborative service and fully enacted mutual aid contracts with our local partners.

Our administrative team is comprised of an Administrative Assistant, Fire Chief, Two Assistant Chief’s, Fire Marshal, EMS Captain and Fire Training Captain. Together, with the support of the administrative team, we strive to be competitive in our employee benefits and training opportunities, ensuring the citizens and visitors receive the best possible service.

Our incredible growth within the district allows us to maintain the lowest tax rate in Northern Kentucky, while offering exemplary services and community engagement. While I hope that you never need our services, rest assured that our staff are on-duty, highly trained and ready to respond to your emergency needs.

Again, welcome to our website and feel free to contact my office if you should have any questions, comments or concerns.

Most respectfully,
Adam N. Peddicord, Fire Chief
